Cao Bang Loop Tour - Embark on a thrilling 5-day motorbike adventure through Vietnam’s most stunning landscapes, combining both the winding mountain roads of Ha Giang and the breathtaking Cao Bang Waterfall.
This Cao Bang Loop tour offers a personalized experience with a local driver, ensuring an authentic and immersive journey through ethnic villages, towering limestone karsts, and legendary mountain passes. Whether you choose to ride as a passenger with an Easy Rider or self-ride, this adventure is tailored to your preference. Board the bus in Hanoi to get to our hotel in Ha Giang City, and then embark on a 5-day/ 4-night adventure, ending in Cao Bang. You will then board the bus back to Hanoi for the completion of the trip. During your trip, your large luggage or backpack can be stored safely at our hotel. Upon completion, we will securely transport your luggage back to Hanoi to meet you when you arrive on the bus from Cao Bang. If you would prefer to begin and end in Ha Giang, please let us know and we would be happy to arrange this for you!

Simply select this option when completing your booking, and we will reach out to confirm your guide after receiving your reservation. ( If the group has more than 5 tourists, an English-speaking guide will be included.)
Important Note: If you wish to ride independently, you must have both an International Driving Permit (1968 Convention) and a valid domestic license specific to the type of bike you're riding.

Day 0: Arrival in Ha Giang

Day 1: Bac Sum Pass - Heaven’s Gate - Nam Dam Village (Dao ethnic group) - Lung Tam Village (H’mong linen weaving) - Can Ty & Tham Ma Pass - Sang Tung Stone Desert - Dong Van Old Town
• Bac Sum Pass - Kick off your adventure early, riding from Ha Giang City toward the winding curves of Bac Sum Pass, where misty valleys stretch as far as the eye can see

Day 2: Dong Van – Lung Cu Flagpole – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River Boat Tour (or Ma Pi Leng Sky Walk Hike) – Meo Vac

Start your morning in Dong Van and head to the iconic Lung Cu Flagpole, the northernmost point of Vietnam, offering sweeping panoramic mountain views. Continue your journey along the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of Ha Giang’s most breathtaking roads, known for its dramatic limestone cliffs and deep valleys.
In the afternoon, choose between two unforgettable experiences:
• Nho Que River Boat Tour – Glide through the turquoise waters of Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia.
• Ma Pi Leng Sky Walk (2-hour hike) – Trek along a thrilling cliffside trail overlooking the Nho Que River.End the day in Meo Vac Town, where you can enjoy dinner at your local homestay and relax before Day 3.
Day 3: Meo Vac – Khau Coc Cha Pass (30-minute hike) – Xuan Truong Valley – Me Farm

Day 4: Me Farm – Thong Got Viewpoint – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Phat Tich Pagoda – Nguom Ngao Cave – Khuoi Ky Stone Village
Begin Day 4 at Me Farm and make your way to the stunning Thong Got Viewpoint, where sweeping mountain vistas set the tone for an incredible day. Continue to the magnificent Ban Gioc Waterfall, one of Vietnam’s most spectacular natural wonders, for an unforgettable experience.
Afterward, visit the serene Phat Tich Pagoda, offering peaceful views overlooking the waterfall area, and explore the impressive Nguom Ngao Cave, famous for its vast chambers and remarkable limestone formations.
Finish the day at the Khuoi Ky Stone Village, nestled in the valley and surrounded by lush landscapes. Unwind by the tranquil lakeside and enjoy a warm, delicious local dinner.
Day 5: Angel’s Eye Mountain – Thang Hen Lake - journey back Ha Noi.
On Day 5, explore the iconic Angel’s Eye Mountain, famous for its natural circular hole and panoramic views of limestone peaks and valleys. Continue to the peaceful Thang Hen Lake, surrounded by emerald waters and lush forests—a perfect spot to experience northern Vietnam’s natural beauty.
In the afternoon, begin your drive back to Hanoi around 12:00 PM, enjoying the scenic landscapes along the way. You can expect to arrive in Hanoi between 7:00–8:00 PM, concluding your unforgettable Ha Giang adventure.

Is a deposit required, and what payment methods do you accept?
- Yes, a small deposit is required to confirm your reservation and secure your spot. This deposit can be made online via OnePay, with a 4% processing fee applied. The remaining balance can be paid upon arrival at our Ha Giang office, where we accept: • Vietnamese Dong (VND) • Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) – A 4% processing fee applies to card payments.
How do we get to Ha Giang?
The arrival bus from Ha Noi to Ha Giang and the departure bus from Ha Giang back to Ha Noi are both included in the price. If you’re coming from Sapa, Cat Ba, Ha Long, or Ninh Binh, please contact us in advance for the best transportation arrangements— we’re happy to assist in booking buses! Additional costs may be applied for other bus destinations.
What should I bring for the Ha Giang Loop motorbike tour?
To make the most of your Ha Giang Loop adventure, here are a few essentials you should pack:
- Small Backpack – Lightweight and compact, perfect for a day trip
- Comfortable Clothes & Shoes – Ideal for exploring the stunning mountain landscapes. (Remember to bring warm winter clothes from November-March)
- Sunscreen/sunglasses – Protect your skin from the strong sun.
- Mosquito Repellent – A must-have for staying bite-free in rural areas.
- SIM Card – Useful for navigation and staying connected.
- Camera/GoPro – Capture breathtaking scenery and unforgettable moments.
- Cash – ATMs can be scarce, so carry enough for your trip.
Can I Ride My Own Motorbike on the Ha Giang Loop?
- Yes, you can, but you must meet the legal requirements: • A valid International Driving Permit (IDP) under the 1968 Vienna Convention, with an A or A1 stamp for motorbike eligibility. Please note: 1949 Convention licenses are not accepted, please check what type of IDP your home country issues.
- A motorbike license from your home country that permits you to ride the same type of bike. If you do not have the required licenses, we strongly recommend joining an Easy Rider tour, where an experienced local guide will drive for you. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery without the stress of road conditions or navigation. Important Notice: Riding without a valid license is illegal. If you choose to do so, you assume full responsibility for any consequences, including fines or issues with the authorities. We do not take any responsibility in such cases. Ride safely and legally!
Can I bring my suitcase or a big backpack on the Ha Giang Loop tour?
All you will need is a day pack for your trip. If you have a suitcase or a large backpack, don’t worry! You can store it safely at our office before starting the tour. For the best experience, pack only the necessities—comfortable clothing, personal items, and travel essentials. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Can I ride an automatic scooter on the Ha Giang Loop?
Yes, you can use an automatic or scooter on the Ha Giang Loop, but it’s not the best choice. Here’s why:
🚨 Why NOT an Automatic/Scooter?
- Steep, Rough Roads – The Ha Giang Loop has steep inclines, sharp turns, and uneven terrain. Automatic scooters struggle with power and braking on these roads.
- Weaker Braking Control – Automatics rely heavily on brakes, which can overheat and fail on long downhill stretches.
- Less Stability – Scooters have smaller tires and weaker suspension, making them less stable on bumpy roads.
- Limited Power – Automatics don’t have the same power and torque as manual bikes, making it harder to climb steep hills.
Do I Need to Tip My Driver or Guide in Ha Giang?
Tipping is not mandatory in Vietnam, but it is greatly appreciated, especially for drivers and guides who provide excellent service. When Should You Tip?
- If your guide/driver goes above and beyond (e.g., helps with luggage, takes great photos, or ensures your safety on tricky roads).
- If you had an amazing experience and want to show appreciation.
- At the end of the trip, hand it to them personally with a smile—it will mean a lot!
